While getting waxed might be painful for some, you don’t need to get waxed as often as you think. Even though there are some of us who can’t avoid getting waxed, there are some ways to extend the life of just one session! Want to know how? Here are our three best tips:
- Get waxed on a regular basis: When trying to extend the amount of time your wax will last, you’ll first have to make an effort to get waxed on a regular basis. This means setting a specific number to your schedule. For instance, get your eyebrows waxed every two weeks for two months, and not the changes you see between each session. The great thing about sticking to a firm schedule is that the more you get waxed, the less hair will grow back on its own. Since wax pulls out the entire hair from the root, regular waxing will result in less regrowth. Even when the hair does grow back, it will grow back both thinner and finer than before.
- Exfoliate your skin: Another great way to get the most out of a wax session is to exfoliate your skin before your appointment. It will help to remove any excess skin, making the hair easier to grab in a wax. Within one week, you should be exfoliating your skin at least 3-4 times. This also has the long term benefit of reducing ingrown hairs, while keeping your skin very clean and dirt free. Keep in mind that you shouldn’t exfoliate right after a wax, but rather wait 2 days before exfoliating again.
- Don’t get waxed if your hair hasn’t grown back: You’re wasting money if you go in for a wax every single week. Why? The wax needs to be able to grab onto something to be effective. If you decide to get a wax when your hair is still short, the wax might not pick up on the short hairs, meaning that you’ll see regrowth faster than you would have if you waited.
