Coconut oil has taken the world by storm! There are so many uses for this wonderful product. You can substitute coconut oil for other types of oils that you cook with for an extra push towards better health, you can oil pull with coconut oil so that your mouth stays bacteria free and smells fresh on a regular basis, and you can also use this miracle product for your hair!
Wondering some of the ways that you can substitute some of your older products for coconut oil? Here are a few of our favorites…
1. Coconut oil as a leave in conditioner: Coconut oil provides your strands of hair with an excellent amount of moisture, meaning that the more you continue to run some through your hair while it is damp after a shower, the more you will see strength and less breakage, overall. While you can use it as a leave in conditioner for your ends at any time, the best time is before you go to bed (if you sleep with wet hair).
2. Coconut oil as a protectant from sun: Another great use for coconut oil is using it as a type of “sunscreen” for your hair whenever you go out in the sun for extended periods of time. Just be sure that the coconut oil is melted at room temperature before you lather your hair!
3. Coconut oil as a deep conditioner: This one will take a long time to complete, but will be totally worth it in the long run! All you will need to do is melt the coconut oil to a liquid (so at room temperature or 75 degrees), and lather the coconut oil all throughout your hair, combing it from the root to the tip of your strands. Wrap it in a hair net and let it sit for one to two hours.
