The idea of a massage may first arise as something you only do once in a blue moon, a luxury, like while you’re on a vacation in Hawaii. While massages are not a toss awayexpense, it may be beneficial to partake in them semi-regularly. Massage is considered a form of therapy and provides many health benefits forindividuals both mentally and physically.

Physical Health

The first thing we may think of with massage, is relaxation. Indeed it’s a common drive for people seekingout massage therapists. Others may need to work out the kinks in their neck or back. Their muscles ache from overworking, and the pressure and movement of massage helps relax the inflamed muscles. But, did you know that the benefits of massage go deeper than that? Relaxing your muscles soothes your whole body and can even lead to lowered blood pressure. Regular massages may also help people breathe easier,as it opens up tightened muscles in the upper abdomen area. Tight muscles can be a product of stress. Relaxing these constricted muscles also allows individuals to notice the effect stress might be having on their body. Headaches are another common health issue, and these too can be remedied by massage.A session may relax and open the strained arteries which contribute to painful tension headaches or migraines.

Mental Health

When our body is relaxed, serotonin is released into our system.Studies have shown that people who get massages produce serotonin more regularly, contributing to more consistent, and fuller nights of sleep. Mental health issues such as anxiety and depression can be remedied as well. When serotonin and dopamine are released by your massage, your mood levels are more consistent. When you’re relaxed and in a good mood, your confidence goes up. Everyone wants to feel better about themselves!

Schedule an Appointment

We live in a constantly running world, and personal health can often take a back seat. Individuals may think they don’t have the time or money, but when push comes to shove your health is most important. If you’ve never had a massage, schedule an appointment and treat yourself, what have you got to lose?
